I just finished finished my shopping and am very happy with myself. I did not use my credit cards, paid for everything and did not meander around and spend on things I didn't need. My impulse buying almost got the best of me a few times but I fought back and I won. Now I just need to avoid the pile of sales brochures that come with the newspaper and I'll be ok.

I didn't see holiday cards mentioned, but you can save money by sending them yourself rather than going through an online store. Here are some quick tips: Pare down your list to those whom you absolutely must send holiday cards. Create your own cards at an online image editor like PicMonkey or buy them from a store and insert your own photos rather than choosing a photocard. Collect addresses using a free online address book like www.conXt.com that lets you easily print mailing labels at home. Make your holiday cards postcard size and you'll save on postage - postcards only cost 32 cents to send vs. 45 cents for regular mail :) This will help you save money and won't add too much time to your day!
